  24. I just installed the LW 4.0 from the CD I recieved today with a bunch of
  25. manuals.  After long awaiting this upgrade, I did a rendering benchmark test
  26. in a scene I am working on in 3.5.  The 4.0 rendered the same frame/scene 
  27. 2.3 times  SLOWER than the 3.5.  Thins makes it about useless to me as 
  28. rendering as already a major bottlenect to my business.  I will only be 
  29. using 3.5 for jobs until this pig can be recompiled to render faster or 
  30. patched somehow.

  32. I feel that the program has suffered somehow in this upgrade in the most
  33. important aspect of rendering speed to somehow accomodate the new features
  34. that render so quickly on the other platforms' ports. Because of the flyer 
  35. and economic constraints, I am tied to the amiga for a while longer.I have 
  36. given up my chance a long time ago to upgrade my LightWaves to another 
  37. platform.  I believed that the amiga lw4.0 would be an improvement over 3.5.

  39.  I am starting to feel a bit ripped-off.

  41. A plane background renders about as fast as a full screen polygon in 3.5.
  42. Has anyone else had this rendering slowdown?  Please don't give me the 
  43. insight that amatures have the time to wait 2 times longer to take advantage 
  44. of the new features. even if I didn't use LW as a business tool, I would 
  45. still fell ripped off by the slowdown.
